Brothers Sport Braves beat iTrainer Warriors1-0 in the opening match of the EagleTurf All Stars Men's Hockey Series featuring South Africa's top 30 players at Riverside Sports Club in Durban North Friday night.

Craig Haley netted the match-winning strike in the 13th minute via a penalty stroke.

Game two is at Kearsney College in Hillcrest, Durban at 7 pm on Monday night and the 360 SA U18 Boys' Interprovincial Tournament hockey players participating at the school during the week are sure to be in for a treat.

ALL-Stars all-action is the catchphrase for the EagleTurf All Star Series that features the top 30 men's hockey players in the country in four matches over the next six days in Durban.

The action starts at 6.30 pm Friday (tonight) at Riverside Sports Cub in Durban North when the iTrainer Warriors take on the Brothers Sport Braves in what promises to be a classic clash that features national captain and World All Stars represenative Austin Smith and a host of his Beijing Olympian team-mates.

HEAD coach of the South African men's hockey team, Gregg Clark, released the names of players Friday who will take part in the national camp and EagleTurf All Star Series in Durban from June 24 to 30.

“A number of players are unavailable due to injury or work commitments, but aside from that the group represents the cream of the country's talent,” said Clark.

National captain and 2008 Beijing Olympian Austin Smith will return from his Dutch club, Den Bosch, for the event. He boasts 74 Test appearances for South Africa, was part of the 2009 World All Stars team and is the current SA Men's Player of the Year.
