SA Hockey Women VS Ireland 15 Min Left
JONATHAN COOK
in Dublin
The Investec South Africa women’s hockey team led Ireland 2-1 with 15 minutes left through a Sulette Damons action goal midway through the first half and Pietie Coetzee’s penalty corner drag-flick midway through the second in the playoff for fifth place at the Champions Challenge in Dublin Sunday.
With 24 minutes left Ireland’s impressive Nicola Symmons scrambled a PC rebound over the line (1-1). Investec SA were not creating the plentiful chances as in previous games but midway through the second half Coetzee flashed in a rocket penalty corner for her 225th goal in 227 Test matches to restore SA’s lead (2-1)
