Providing strong fundamentals to South African Hockey

Spar SA Ladies beat Ghana 7-0

The Spar South African Ladies booked themselves a place in Sunday’s final by beating Ghana 7-0 yesterday. The SA ladies were on top form as they put on a good performance to thump Ghana 7-0.
The SA team has had too much fire power for the other African countries to date and should be strong favourites to win the tournament.

Spar SA Ladies beat Zimbabwe 9-0

The match today was one of many missed opportunities. Most of which took place in the first half which meant we only went into the break with a 3-0 lead.

The second half proved to be much better with a more urgent performance which was reflected in the number of goals scored.

Kate Hector got in on the action by grabbing five goals.

Final Score: 9-0

Goalscorers: K.Hector (5), C. Brown (2), M. Marescia (1), T. Bright (1)

Men’s Day 4 Results:

South Africa 0 – Egypt 1

Kenya 5 – Uganda 0

Spar SA Ladies beat Nigeria 8-0

These games are traditionally physical encounters and laden with memories. This match proved no different. Although we were not clinical enough in some of our executions, the bumpy field still somewhat of a hinderance, we were still able to string some good goals.

Taryn Hosking was determined to make this match, her 50th international, a memorable one by arriving at the field with the wrong coloured playing shirt. Fortunately there was a blood-shirt, some elastoplast and artitistic ability on management part to save the day.

SA Men break African Record

Game 2

South Africa v Uganda

From the start we knew this would be an easy yet difficult game to play given the unorthodox style of the Ugandans. This however did not deter us from the job at hand, to make our presence known as African Champs.

South African Men beat Ghana in opening match
