B-SECTION

Two rest days - visiting the Great Wall of China and exploring Beijing a little more ended the 1st half of our tour to China.

8 Days – 6 matches remaining.

Thursday 10 June and the girls were ready to start the second half of what they came to do – train, train and train some more. A lot of game related exercises and a lot of running! But this is what we need if we want to become number 6 and compete with the teams in the top half of the rankings.

SAHA PROPOSED STRATEGIC PLAN - DISCUSSION DOCUMENT

At a recent strategic planning workshop where members of the Executive, President’s Forum and Athletes Commission were present we took a look at where South African Hockey is currently and where we wanted to take it in years to come. The group came up with the strategic plan attached and we encourage all stakeholders in South African hockey to read and send in your comments to the Hockey office by 18 June 2010.

Breakfast was slightly different this morning as we welcomed the 18th player to the camp, Tsoanelo Pholo making a comeback to the national squad after a three year absence. Needless to say the extra legs were much appreciated by all.

On Friday the 4th of June, we embarked on another challenge against China, the 3rd ranked team in the world. Instead of grafting on the field in the morning, we spent a few hours in the meeting room focusing on what we needed to achieve today.

SASCOC announces SA Under 17 Girls Hockey Team to participate in Youth Olympic Games in Singapore

The South Africa Hockey Association in conjunction with SASCOC is proud to announce the Under 17 SA Hockey Girls team to represent South Africa at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore August 2010.

Day 3 in China started with breakfast which is always a bit of a lucky packet on what you are going to get, but the girls are getting used to the food and starting to be a little more adventurous with some tasting the duck head – Turns out it tastes just like chicken!

Travel day 28 May 2010 Well, the day had finally arrived! 7 months of no contact with each other and we were heading off to China, not sure if everybody knew what to expect. A new coach, playing internationals with little preparation and to get us into swing of all teams …China!
